Piano Select Scholarships
Piano Select is proud to invite piano students from around Australia to participate in our upcoming Scholarship series (applications for 2024 are now closed – thank you).
The Piano Select Scholarship is not a piano competition in the traditional sense, it is an online-entry scholarship that takes into account not only the quality of performance submitted, but also the degree of potential displayed by the student as identified by the guest adjudicators. As such, it is an extremely inclusive scholarship open to Australian-resident piano students of all ages and levels.
Each entry will consist of a short video performance, in line with the specific theme outlined in the entry requirements, together with an artist statement by the student detailing achievements to date and future plans/aspirations. Pre-registration is now open via the form below on this page. Entry details will then be forwarded to registered entrants early in the new year.
Awards include cash prizes and certificates.
Piano Select has an amazing pool of guest talent involved in adjudicating our scholarship series including Peter de Jager.
Peter de Jager is an associate artist at ANAM (the Australian National Academy of Music), a recording artist for the AMEB (the Australian Music Examinations Board), a previous winner of the Australian International Chopin Competition and finalist in the most recent ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer’s Awards.
He has performed locally with major Australian orchestras including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, extensively abroad and is also a celebrated composer and harpsichordist.
We are sure students, teachers and music-lovers alike will take much inspiration from Peter’s music and achievements: Enjoy Peter’s insightful interview and amazing performance of Lyapunov’s Transcendental Etude Opus 11, Number 10, “Lesghinka”.
